Your work is beautiful.

Your ideas are important.

I want everyone to notice.

I’m Rebeca Arango. I write for business leaders who build power so they can share it. Folks who want a marketplace where people are more important than profits and everyone has what they need to thrive.

My clients are truth tellers. They are often coaches, teachers, consultants, healers, therapists, spiritual leaders, creatives or witches. A lot of them are great writers.

They care about justice. They often call themselves feminists — not of the lean-in, neoliberal variety. They strive to put their principles into practice, be transparent in their stewardship of money and influence, and take accountability for their priveleges and biases.

If this sounds anything like you:

I want to see you platformed, resourced and stewarding large amounts of money.

Because I believe you are poised to contribute to the future I want to see.

MY BACKGROUND

Over the last decade and change, I’ve worked as a lead copywriter, ghostwriter and editor-in-chief. I’ve worked with print magazines, startups, publicists, non-profits, and transformational coaches.

Since 2016 I’ve worked as a copywriter in the online coaching, development and wellness space. I’ve worked on multi-6-figure launches and co-written a book for a major publisher.

I don’t like the term “conversion copywriting” or many of the standard “persuasion” tactics used on the Big Bad Internet. Instead I draw upon Kelly Diels’ proven Feminist Marketing Framework and infuse that with my own skill, intuition and experience. By the way, I have been training with Kelly for nearly 3 years and am an instructor in her Copywriting for Culture-Makers Course.

Since starting this business in 2020, I’ve had the honor of working with more than two dozen progressive, countercultural, unconvenntional leaders who are changing the conversation on the Big Bad Internet.

I treat your work as a sacred offering.

Sacred to me means worthy of respect and protection. That means your work deserves strong advocacy, clear boundaries, and marketing that isn’t at odds with your deepest beliefs and values.

“I’d never seen what I’ve felt articulated in such a way”

"Rebeca was the salve to my wounded copy-self. I came to her in the early stages of my business; vulnerable, ripe and gushing with ideas — scared I’d be misunderstood, judged and not enough in how I wanted to show up in my work and present myself.

She instantly “got” me, my intentions, my work and what I wanted to put out into the world. When I received her first round of copy I was moved to tears; I’d never seen what I’ve felt articulated in such a way — it almost felt like a soundtrack of my 20+ years of coaching being sung back to me.

With her help, I was able to jumpstart my social media presence and weekly emails, instantly having engagement. Working with her gave me the confidence to step out into the entrepreneurial world with a voice unique to me and I haven’t stopped since. I will forever be grateful for our time together."

MY EDITORIAL COMPASS

The 4 Writing Principles I Follow

1

ACCURACY

Accuracy promotes both differentiation and transparency. I refine your copy with questions like, is this true? Is this meaningful? Does this help me imagine it for myself? Where basic copywriting defaults to buzzwords and hype statements, I go deeper so you get noticed by your people. Through accuracy we get specific-to-you as possible.

2

EQUANIMITY

We don’t need to dominate the market. We can avoid the controlling energy of common marketing lingo and still get fabulous results. Instead of presuming we know what’s best for our reader, we can respect their innate knowing. Instead of trying to win over every last person in the world, we can trust that our best-fit people are enough.

3

SENSITIVITY

We live in an insensitive culture. It trains us to see all problems as individual failings and view our own experiences as the norm. Particularly if we are very privileged. I believe in framing our teachings with sensitivity to different experiences and collective conditions so we can communicate with respect and understanding to our audience members.

4

PERSONALITY

I’m paying very close attention to your peculiar sensibilities, spoken and felt. I want your copy to feel alive, complex, connected. Particularly in my deeper packages, I add subtle layers of imagery, character and style to everything I touch so that reading your work is almost as engaging as sitting with you in person.

My clients are weaving the wisdom traditions of the future.

We’re lending our talents to new institutions* and schools of thought anchored in values of interdependence, mutual care and collective flourishing.

We’re striving to not just talk about our principles, but put them into practice.

This is in deep contrast to the neoliberal values that dominate the Big Bad Internet and the business world at large.

And it’s why I’m so personally fiery about getting our stories, expertise and ideas in front of bigger audiences.

As business owners, we have influence to subvert the status quo narrative and contribute to a more just and hospitable marketplace.

My ideas are not all my own.

Nobody is “self-made.”

I continue to train with the brilliant Kelly Diels to unlearn toxic marketing formulas and implement socially-conscious messaging that moves people. Kelly’s work has made my writing stronger. The people she gathers have made a big difference, too.

Lara Eastburn, N. Chloé Nwangwu, and Ixchel Lunar have all contributed their discernment when it comes to my word choices and my inclusivity lens. Mary Diaz has also been an ongoing inspiration and support.

I have also learned a great deal from my clients Sarah Selecky and Sean Carasso. I often team up with my friend, designer Dexsy Repuyan.

I may also be under the influence of…

When it comes to cultural and systemic analysis, I am inspired and informed by the writings of Sonia Renée Taylor, Anne Helen Peterson, Dr. Devin Price, adrienne maree brown, Ijoema Oluo, Jack D. Forbes, Isabel Wilkerson, Angela Davis, Jason Hickel, Lindo Bacon, bell hooks, Barbara Ehrenreich, David Graeber, Lindy West, Rebecca Solnit, Janaya the Future.

I have been a curious spiritual seeker and student of meditation and yoga for more than 8 years. I am a non-dogmatic believer and skeptical of schools of thought that do not allow doubt or growth from critique. I am also highly critical of neoliberal ideology in personal growth discussions and work to uproot it wherever I can.

My spiritual understanding has been shaped by a great deal of authors and teachers, including Valerie Louis, Sarah Faith Gottesdiener, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Jeff Brown, Don Miguel Ruiz, Sebene Selassie, bell hooks, Pema Chödrön, Marianne Williamson, .

Many of my clients do trauma-informed work as therapists and healers, and I continue to expand my own knowledge of the nervous system, mental health, somatics and trauma.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Just because I mention someone here, doesn’t mean I’ve read all their work. Nor can I confirm that I 100% agree with everything they’ve said and done.

MY WORLDVIEW

I believe business is inherently political.

Business owners are among the most influential people in society. We carry the responsibility of stewarding power and resources.

And every time we contribute public writing, we shape the culture and standards of the marketplace.

So it makes sense to be explicit about our values before we begin.

I believe that we are interdependent, and that we should care for each other and value each other at a higher level.

I believe capitalism and supremacy have taught us to view each other as resources, commodities and competition, but that is not our nature.

I believe many of us are longing for a more hospitable world. And a way to flourish while tending to, rather than extracting from each other.

MY BUSINESS PRACTICES

  • I work with entrepreneurs who are committed to moving towards economic justice, critical awareness, and consent in their communications and business practices.

  • I redistribute 5-15% of my monthly income to organizations or individuals working to fortify people who have been marginalized and oppressed.

  • I do not currently employ anyone. I am at the early stages of my business and look forward to having more capacity to build in pro-social, pro-justice business practices.

Still curious?

  • I currently live and work on the traditional lands of the Tongva people, also known as Los Angeles. I moved here 10 years ago from the east coast of the US.

  • I’m an artist. Predominantly, a songwriter and recording artist. If you like classic pop songwriting with a subtle defiance, give me a listen. If not, I think you’ll find I bring a flair for composition to your copy too.

  • Before I started my business, I spent 4 years in-house at a high-volume, high-ticket online business. I regularly wrote sales pages and email sequences according to leading copywriting techniques. I’m now adept at being persuasive without the pain-pressing tactics of what I call Big Bad Internet-Marketing.

  • After graduating college, I moved to LA and became Editor-in-Chief of LA Canvas Magazine, a print publication that circulated around the city’s cultural hubs. Highlights include my 2012 interview with Kendrick Lamar; reviewing the city’s restaurants; and chronicling the local arts community with our weekly newsletters. Today my editorial sensibility helps me hone in on what’s most interesting about my clients.

  • Once upon a time I wore lace-up platform boots and interned at Nylon Magazine in New York City. I wrote for their blog. I’m still good at cute catch phrases and attention-worthy headlines. They aren’t the point, but you won’t be mad when you get some.

  • In 2015 I co-founded a landcare company, Saturate with two friends. In 2016 the business was featured in Goop. Today the company remains a small team of gardeners providing hand-gardening and ecologically sensitive maintenance to homeowners in the greater LA area.

  • As a ghostwriter and copywriter, I’ve written hundreds of thousands of words for entrepreneurs. I’m adept at channeling different voices so your personality shines through.

  • In 2011, I received my BFA in Recorded Music (+ Minor in History) from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. While there, I studied writing and cultural criticism with writers Robert Christgau and Jason King.

  • I identify as a highly sensitive person. I think that makes me a persuasive copywriter. But I try to use my powers to inspire hope, not fear.

  • I’m an INFJ, an Enneagram 9. Cancer Sun, Libra Moon and Scorpio Rising. Mars in Leo: my work pulls you into the spotlight.
